While life between 50 and 65 brings many changes, you don’t need to meet this new chapter with dread. You can embrace menopause with a newfound focus on your energy, nutrition, and—where Isomers come in—the health of your skin.
Our new menopause skincare line, Next Youth, is about helping Isomers’ customers view this stage of womanhood in a more positive light. Below, we’ll discuss a few ways to approach this new phase in life with a bright smile andcomplexion with Isomers Skincare.
Life Doesn’t Stop at Fifty—It’s Just Beginning
Gen X takes a very different approach to aging than previous generations—this is the time where the real fun begins! This new batch of grandmothers, surrogate aunts, and mentors is focused on continuing to feel healthy, confident, and beautiful without viewing their age as a barrier.
Rather than focusing on the negative changes that come with menopause, focusing on things you can do to improve your day-to-day life will help keep the good times rolling. This includes maintaining a good exercise routine and feeding your skin with nutrients that will keep you looking radiant for years to come.
At Isomers Skincare, we refer to this era as “Next Youth,” a time of significant change, when giving your health the same attention as you did in your 20s will pay off big time.
How You Can Embrace Menopause as a Healthier, Brighter “You”
For many women, the post-menopause era is about embracing new roles in their families, workplaces, and communities. Maintaining and building up your health will enable you to manage the symptoms of menopause so you can keep up with your grandchildren, support your career, and age gracefully with confidence in how you look and feel.
If you’re currently going through menopause and aren’t sure where to begin, here are a few tips from our team at Isomers:
Adapt Your Workout Routine
Many workouts can help curb menopausal symptoms. Whether you’re a gym fiend or have a casual workout regimen, integrating just a few of these exercises into your routine can help you manage hot flashes and boost your muscle mass, bone strength, sleep cycle, mood, and more.
For women in menopause, 30-45 minutes of zone two exercise three times a week is highly recommended. Zone two training focuses on moderate exercises like running, walking, and cycling that help your body use fats and carbohydrates better, maintain a safe heart rate, and improve metabolic flexibility and mitochondrial production.
They don't feel as uncomfortable or difficult as higher-intensity workouts, as they use fat and oxygen as their energy source. These lower-intensity workouts can help build upon your aerobic base, making higher-intensity workouts like HIIT and spin easier and safer to perform.
Other benefits include enhanced energy, improved insulin sensitivity, reduced inflammation and ROS effects, and a slower overall aging process.
Some other exercises you can adopt into your routine to supplement Zone 2 workouts include:
- Full-body strength training
- High-impact workouts like circuit training, HIIT (high-intensity interval training), and playing sports
- Yoga
- Joint-friendly aerobic exercises like swimming, walking, dancing, and using the elliptical machine
Focus on Nutrition
A nutrient-rich diet is one of the best ways to maintain your health post-menopause. Increasing your calcium, vitamin D, and creatine intake will help improve your bone strength, enhance muscle mass, improve exercise performance, and reduce the risk of spinal fractures. Here’s the general dose recommendation for these nutrients:
- 1,200 mg of calcium per day
- 600 IU of vitamin D until age 70 (increase to 800 IU afterwards)
- Take 5-10mg of creatine per day
Prioritize Your Skincare
During menopause, women experience a drop in their estrogen levels, reduced collagen production, and hormonal fluctuations that can cause drier skin. All of these changes cause the skin to lose firmness, sag, wrinkle, and thin, particularly around the jawline, cheeks, and neck.
Adopting a skincare routine that targets these concerns can help reintroduce the nutrients from estrogen and collagen that your skin is missing. The right skincare can also replace essential fats and fatty acids to slow down visible signs of aging. Ideally, women approaching menopause should switch their skincare routine around their mid-40s to adapt to their body's hormonal changes and slow their skin's decline.
While you can’t fully eradicate the aging process, the right ingredients can help your skin maintain a radiant and healthy appearance for years to come.
Phytoestrogen: The Power Ingredient
Phytoestrogen, an important ingredient in soy isoflavones, acts like estrogen in the body. As the key ingredient in our “Next Youth” skincare line, this compound provides antioxidant protection, supports collagen production, and promotes hydration and skin elasticity. It also soothes inflammation and enhances skin tone and texture, helping you and many other women to look and feel 60 years young.
Building Community with Isomer’s “Next Youth” Skincare Line
Our “Next Youth” line from Isomers Skincare is about meeting women where they’re at in their skincare journey. Our team formulated this line to support women with the challenges of menopause and restore what’s missing in their complexion: hydration, balance, and resilience.
Many of our female customers have noticed the change in their skin with phytoestrogen, including reduced puffiness, inflammation, and skin irritation. This line mimics the skin's natural estrogen, making it very effective for hormonal aging. The soy isoflavons are excellent for boosting collagen production and soothing inflamed skin (hot flashes).
Our Next Youth line features the following products:
- Next Youth Firming Eye Treatment Serum
- Next Youth Night Repair Treatment Serum
- Next Youth Replenishing Cream
